Character History

History:

 Cougar knows very little about his past, having been raised by the state in a government orphanage on Pykon. He was a quiet and studious child, who was a voracious reader who kept much to himself. It was a surprise to everyone when he decided to enter the colonial armed forces. He entered flight training, excelling at combat flying. Graduating in the top third of his class, it was however, his theoretical grasp of history, tactics and flight that impressed his instructors and he was passed straight through to qualify on Vipers.

Always a loner by nature, it was soon after he graduated that he began to earn a...'reputation' around the mess. If there was ever an incident in the air, Cougar always came away without a scratch, there might be training accidents, or live firing mistakes, but Cougar always came away without so much as a mark on the paintwork.

This only served to further distance himself from the rest of the pilots, who began looking at him as someone who was a little ' strange' or 'cursed/lucky' depending on who you talked to.

It got to the point where fleet command decided that rather than lose a gifted pilot, their last option was to post him to the soon to be decommissioned Battlestar, Galactica as an effort to get his 'Curse' tag lifted or at least forgotten about.

Cougar has been flying since the start of the war, and true to his curse, he has watched as the viper pilots around him have died while he himself hasn't even scratched his Vipers paintwork. He may even be starting to believe the stories about himself - maybe he is cursed. Maybe he will keep on flying while everyone around him keeps dying...
